A New Office

I recently shared about the home renovations we've been working on. And today, I wanted to share about my newly finished (mostly) office space!

I have never had a space dedicated to working like this. And it's a dream come true. It's about 98% done. I still need to hang the art on the walls plus I have a cozy reading chair I'm waiting to be delivered. But I couldn't wait to share it with you any longer.

This room was our homeschool/music room when my boys were younger. It housed two desks for their computers, my regular piano, my electric piano, a large file cabinet, and a couple bookcases. It served it's purpose.

Once my older two boys moved out and my youngest son graduated from high school, this room was rarely used. As we were talking about the renovations, we determined this would become my office.

Here are some more "before" photos after most of it was cleaned out in preparation for the renovations:

And here are some "before-during-after" photos of the new floors. I love them!

It was after this that we realized how dingy the walls were. Especially where the boys desks had once been. The walls also still had the "builders white" color on it from when it was built over 20 years ago. It was definitely time for some fresh paint.

I thought I would be able to paint not only my office but the dining room as well over the Thanksgiving weekend. I was very wrong. It took two weekends, but the end result was worth it!

I used the Sherwin-Williams color Malabar. The warm beige goes well with our living room which has a slightly darker beige and a dark brown accent wall. Here are some "during" photos of the painting process.

Once the paint was up, it was time to start building bookcases and my desk. I added three new bookcases to the room plus a large desk. My sons helped with building all of it. Thank goodness!

I've been working here now for a few weeks. And I enjoy it every single time I sit down. I'm very blessed to have this space. And I'm praying I'll be creating even more books this coming year!

Until next time,

Evelyn
